[CHECKTAGS] During the 2022-23 season the theme what was focused on was that of women's empowerment, dear to both Foundation that to the Elban school community. The annotated bibliography of books dedicated to gender equality was compiled by Marzia Camarda, cultural entrepreneur and expert on the subject. This was followed, from September to May 2022, an integrated work on the theme of gender equality and of female empowerment.
In this case, the boys and girls worked on a book donated by the Foundation, "We Should All Be Feminists" by Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Of it, identified the fundamental theses and then discussed them with the method of argumentative debate at a public meeting, held on Friday 12 May 2022.
The students confronted each other, dividing themselves into two groups as in a real agora, in a sort of public meeting with each other, supporting or countering the basic thesis supported in the chosen text. A true American-style debate with a round of cross-questioning that brought out the breadth of arguments and raised numerous points for reflection: is feminism an extremist movement? Is the victimization of the female gender being exploited? Why is there almost never talk of stereotyping the male figure? And still other ideas such as wage disparity, disparity in sport, toxic feminism, the stereotyped models of today's society.
All the work (textual and iconographic) has been collected in a file that will serve as a model for other schools.
